Making lightweight, strong, great performing boards is the challenge of all surfboard manufactures. At South Point Epoxy we've embraced technology and change, dedicating ourselves to continually test, refine, improve and ultimately build better boards.

For 2009 we introduce refinements in the production process that enhance the boards performance and improve the finished quality. These changes were engineered to ensure that South Point Epoxy remains the leading epoxy surfboard brand. South Point Epoxy is already recognized for great performance, excellent durability, and affordability. The new SPEC+ technology improves upon these characteristics and enhances South Point Epoxy's reputation as the best-valued epoxy board available.

Debuting this season is the SPEC+ technology. The engineers of the new South Point Epoxy Construction researched then developed slight variations to board construction based on a board's length and individual requirements based upon shape. SPEC+ is tailored to each board by altering a base construction formula with different compositions and materials. While competitors have chosen to offer a one-style-fits-all construction, South Point's SPEC+ is optimized to achieve the best formula for each board.

SPEC+ continues to utilize the Epoxy Wood Sandwich deck that we successfully introduced last year. Wood is nature's ultimate composite material providing excellent impact and compressive strength. This provides structural support and helps to minimize heel denting. The combination of wood with the Omega stringers and refined fiber lay-ups save weight to create a faster reacting, livelier board.

The most significant advancement in this year's construction is the addition of the Omega stringer. The Omega stringer is a longitudinal composite structure comprised of a high-density PVC foam beam integrated into the core and encased in epoxy fiberglass. Omega stringers are bonded to both the core and outer skins of the board creating better stiffness and strength. A dynamic technology, Omega stringers vary in size and quantity based on the specific needs of each sized board.

Featured on the latest Stand-up paddle models we've achieved another step in core technology, the board's heart. A new 14g EPS was developed for season five. Lighter in composition, with almost a closed cell make up, it provides a tremendous weight savings. Combined with the deletion of the Topsheet material on the deck it allows a weight savings of nearly 2.5lbs. per board.
